AnyMeeting Adds Sponsors and Academic Partner for WebRTC Hackathon

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — (Marketwire) — 01/22/13 — AnyMeeting (), a leading provider of web conferencing for small business, today announced that the AnyMeeting WebRTC Hackathon will be held at Chapman University on Saturday, January 26th. Influxis (), a live streaming and real-time application hosting provider, has signed on to be a sponsor of the event along with TokBox, creators of the OpenTok video platform, who announced support for WebRTC back in August of 2012.

“As an online meeting platform that focuses on ease of use and no downloads, we-re excited about WebRTC-s direct contribution to what we do, which will clearly allow us to further refine and simplify our product,” said Costin Tuculescu, president and CEO of AnyMeeting. “We also felt that it was very important to involve Orange County universities in this event to showcase the level of talent that-s sprouting up in our community.”

WebRTC, short for “Web Real Time Communications,” is a specification and open framework for the web that enables real time communications in the browser. It includes the fundamental building blocks for high quality communications on the web such as network, audio and video components used in voice and video chat applications.

The event is open to software engineers, designers, product managers, marketers and entrepreneurs interested in coming together and working on building a new project, product or service involving WebRTC in an intense 12 hour hack session. There is no cost to enter and a grand prize of $5,000 will be awarded to the winning team.

Hosted by Chapman University-s Schmid College of Science & Technology, in partnership with the Ralph W. Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Ethics, and Chapman-s eVillage, the hackathon encourages students, prospective students and alumni throughout Los Angeles and Orange County to participate.

“We are pleased to partner with AnyMeeting and its sponsors Influxis and TokBox to host this event,” said Michael Fahy, Ph.D., Associate Dean of the School of Computational Sciences. “It is a great opportunity for our students and alumni to apply their knowledge and skills to the development of a potentially revolutionary new technology.”

“With entrepreneurship and innovation as driving forces behind the Leatherby Center, supporting a Hackathon that brings multi-disciplinary students, alumni, and members of the community together to collaborate is in perfect alignment with our goals,” Christopher Buckstein, Director, eVillage, Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Ethics, Chapman University, said.

UC Irvine-s Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences and California State Fullerton-s College of Engineering and Computer Science are also promoting the event.
