HP to Move Poland-s National Centre for Health Information Systems to Electronic Patient Records

WARSAW, POLAND — (Marketwire) — 01/08/13 — HP (NYSE: HPQ) Enterprise Services Poland today announced it has signed a $27 million agreement with National Centre for Health Information Systems (CSIOZ), a Polish Ministry of Health entity that is involved in the development of an e-health environment for the country.

Under the terms of the agreement, HP will build and deploy a portal for collecting, analyzing and sharing digital health records across Poland. Better access to health records for authorized users will improve patient service quality and facilitate better health-related decisions at the government level.

HP will work with CSIOZ to build a portal that patients can use to access their electronic health records. The companies also will develop web applications for use by health service providers, pharmacies and public health insurance payers.

The portal, to be developed by HP-s and teams, will enable interoperability between CSIOZ and other health service providers or pharmacies. This portal will enable online access to medical procedure information including critical medical records, prescribed and filled prescriptions, referrals and dismissals.

Healthcare service providers and public administration authorities will have access to information about medical procedure services such as drug reimbursements, contract details and billing. As a result, healthcare providers, administrators and patients will have a comprehensive view of a patient-s overall health to make more informed healthcare decisions.

“Technology today enables us to securely gather and analyze medical information and use it to improve healthcare for everyone in Poland,” said Marcin Kedzierski, director, National Centre for Health Information Systems. “The advance is being made with the highest level of accuracy and according to international standards.”

The system will meet European Union (EU) requirements for the long-term social-economic reform program (Lisbon Strategy) that promotes an information society in the EU and encourages interoperability between EU electronic platforms in healthcare.

“With electronic patient records, providers and patients will have instant access to a complete picture of a patient-s health that will help guide better, fact-based decisions,” said Pawel Czajkowski, managing director, HP Poland. “HP has a strong track record for delivering eHealth solutions in EU countries, which has allowed the team to gather unique knowledge, along with experience that will help Poland improve healthcare for its people.”

HP will deliver these services from CSIOZ facilities in Warsaw, Poland.

HP also has delivered a series of pilot projects for CSIOZ including an e-prescription pilot.

Centrum Systemów Informacyjnych Ochrony Zdrowia (CSIOZ, National Centre for Health Information Systems) is a subordinate entity of the Polish Ministry of Health. The Center is involved in essential initiatives of development of e-health environment and maintains a leading role in the process of developing eHealth system on behalf of the Ministry of Health in Poland.
