(NYSE MKT: MEET), the public market leader for social discovery, has announced that the MeetMe service is now available in French, Italian, and German on web and Android, with the new languages expected to launch soon on iOS devices. This latest addition culminates a year in which the previously English-only service expanded to offer six language options in total, including Spanish and Portuguese versions that became available during the third quarter of 2012.
“It-s exciting to enter the new year with six languages in place and our reach into the European markets beginning,” said Geoff Cook, COO, MeetMe, Inc. “Our Latin American expansion last quarter increased our monthly active users from 16.7% international in June to 29.5% international in September. With the launch today in French, Italian, and German, we look forward to expanding MeetMe into some of the largest, well monetizing smartphone markets in the world.”
MeetMe plans to release seven more language options in the first quarter of 2013, expanding the service-s addressable market to include more of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The company also continues to expect to launch in the first quarter of 2013 a mobile subscription service and an additional mobile freemium product, building on its recent launch of “Meet on Kik,” a freemium feature that helps MeetMe users find chat partners in the popular Kik Messenger app.
“We remain committed to growing our mobile audience and revenue,” added Cook. “We are excited that we expect to end the year 2012 with more mobile daily active users than we had mobile monthly active users at the start of last year.
