OTTAWA, ONTARIO — (Marketwire) — 12/14/12 — International Datacasting Corporation (TSX: IDC), a global leader in digital content distribution for the world-s premiere broadcasters, today announces a contract with Canal Uno, a major television broadcaster in Latin America.
Canal Uno is one of Ecuador-s leading television networks, providing news, sports, entertainment and children-s programming across the country. Under this contract, IDC LASER targeted ad insertion platform will be deployed by Canal Uno to provide secure satellite delivery of advertising content at the network edge. The IDC LASER solution will be deployed at retransmitter sites across Ecuador and other parts of Latin America.
The IDC LASER solution allows broadcasters delivering video content via satellite the ability to offer advertisers the same quality and flexibility of ad insertion offered by Cable TV or IPTV providers. IDC LASER enables broadcasters to maximize advertising revenues by seamlessly inserting regional or local ads at the edge of the network.
This advanced technology also allows for the substitution of ad content due to regional variances in culture and language, with ad content more appropriate for that target market. This additional flexibility allows broadcasters who distribute content over a wide geographic market to generate revenue from a much broader base of advertisers.
“IDC remains focused on developing innovative products that will deliver measurable results for our customers in terms of revenues and efficiencies,” stated Del Lippert, Interim CEO and Chairman of the Board. “IDC LASER revolutionizes how broadcasters such as Canal Uno can deliver targeted video advertising content for enhanced revenue generation and an expanded audience base.”
“At Canal Uno we are investing in innovative technology to offer our advertisers and clients new strategies to market their products to target audiences. We are also looking to provide our audience with a state-of-the-art national television network. The IDC LASER technology will enable us to meet these objectives, as we incorporate this system into our nationwide network in the coming months,” stated Jose Maria Rivas, Executive Vice President, Canal Uno TV.
The IDC LASER targeted advertising platform combines an integrated ad server and frame accurate stream splicing within the receiver. Advertising content delivery and SCTE-35-based splicing is controlled by an Ad Insertion Module within IDC-s Production Manager. The result is an integrated, easy-to-deploy solution which enables broadcasters to increase advertising revenue by targeting their audience base.
