Mindbloom Launches Easy and Fun Energy Tracking iPhone App to Kick Start Healthy Habits

SEATTLE, WA — (Marketwire) — 11/20/12 — Mindbloom () is asking for seven days with its new iPhone app, called , to help people discover what zaps their energy and offer relevant expert tips on simple ways they can get their zip back. Juice takes a fun, simple approach to helping the average person become aware of the daily habits that drain their energy, while serving up relevant suggestions and resources from top-tier experts on ways to improve those behaviors. Following the success of its Life Game, which focuses on making life improvement fun, and its popular , which uses images and music to inspire productivity, the new JUICE app uses similar principles of behavioral science and gaming mechanics to offer those new to personal improvement a place to start.

JUICE is the first of a series of consumer apps produced by Mindbloom in collaboration with , a national leader in providing innovative wellness solutions to engage consumers in enhancing their own health and wellness. Vivacity services range from personal health support solutions to customized wellness programs for employers. (See related release titled “”). Mindbloom and Vivacity have come together to deliver a series of multi-platform mobile applications that facilitate positive consumer behavior change by offering games, challenges, reminders and resources that help make the process of getting healthier fun.

“JUICE is not an application for the ultra-marathoner or the traditional Nike+ -tracker- crowd. Instead, it is an energy tracker for the rest of us,” said Mindbloom founder, Chris Hewett, a former executive producer for Monolith Productions who developed blockbuster hits such as No One Lives Forever, Tron 2.0, and F.E.A.R. “Today-s reflects the fact that many of us lack the energy we want, but most people don-t know why and don-t have the time to begin to learn how to address the issue. JUICE offers the average person the perfect place to start.”

With JUICE, users can quickly and easily record and reflect on their daily behaviors in the areas of nutrition, sleep, and exercise and track them against their daily energy level. Tracking in JUICE is quick and easy and the application uses playful interactions to make the experience fun, such as offering a lighthearted visual sliding scale to rate that day-s nutrition behaviors that ranges from -awful- (pizza, beer and a cupcake) to -great- (salmon, vegetables and a glass of water). At the end of seven days users receive an energy report that consolidates their input for the week against their energy levels, offering insight into the actions and trends that are negatively affecting their energy. JUICE users also receive daily tips from Mindbloom-s partner network of highly respected health experts and authors. The tips are personalized and relevant based on the user-s input, and are designed to encourage users to improve choices and behaviors that are problematic. The default application tracks the most common energy zappers of nutrition, sleep and exercise, but users can earn or purchase other “ingredients” to track including mood, stress and life balance.

Experts partnering with Mindbloom include thought leaders such as Shawn Achor (author of international best-seller The Happiness Advantage), Patricia Bannan (registered dietitian and author specializing in nutrition and health communication), Brett Blumenthal (bestselling author of 52 Small Changes), Lori Deschene (founder of Tiny Buddha and author of Tiny Buddha and the Tiny Wisdom eBook Series), Keri Gans (registered dietitian and author of The Small Change Diet), M. J. Ryan (one of the creators of the New York Times bestselling Random Acts of Kindness series and the author of The Happiness Makeover) and Brian Johnson (author of A Philosopher-s Notes).

“We tend to live in a sleep deprived, overstretched, high-speed world, yet very few of us truly understand how our day-to-day pace depletes our energy levels,” said Patricia Bannan, author of Eat Right When Time is Tight. “While a second afternoon caffeine-loaded beverage might be part of someone-s daily repertoire to boost their energy, it-s a band-aid fix that doesn-t address why that person might be feeling drained by potential unhealthy behaviors. With JUICE, people get to the bottom of identifying what is zapping their energy so they can start taking actions to get their real energy to an optimal level.”

At launch, Mindbloom-s experts will offer hundreds of relevant tips, followed by a consistent flow of fresh, seasonal and motivational tips and links to additional resources throughout the year. These tips include proactive suggestions for areas where a user may have opportunity for improvement. For example, if a user is struggling with nutrition, they might receive a suggestion to feed their sweet cravings with fruit. Or a user struggling with sleep, as is the case during the week with nearly of Americans, could be directed to avoid digital displays an hour before bedtime. Tips can also be scheduled to incorporate simple healthy habits into a user-s daily lifestyle that could boost their energy levels. Mindbloom will continue to expand its tips with relevant, ongoing challenges and timely content from its partner network throughout the year.

“Often you need a mental map to know where you-re going or recognize that you-re lost,” said Shawn Achor, positive psychology expert and PBS special host of The Happiness Advantage with Shawn Achor. “With JUICE, people get an easy navigational tool for checking in with oneself when energy levels are an issue and they-ll get to see a map of their habits in a fun and non-invasive way. It-s a wonderful opportunity to identify areas where potential small steps could make a huge difference in enabling positive behaviors that lead to more energy. Used effectively, JUICE is the perfect gateway app to better health, well-being and happiness.”

JUICE is available today as a free download in the iTunes App Store and includes energy tracking against nutrition, exercise and sleep. Additional tracking areas including stress, mood and lifestyle are available in-app for $.99 each or can be earned through application use.
