TOKYO and PETALUMA, CA — (Marketwire) — 10/16/12 — today announced the completion of a definitive agreement under which will market, deploy, and support Cyan-s innovative software-defined metro network solution throughout Japan, Indonesia, and Vietnam. With over 15 years of experience deploying leading-edge networking and cloud computing solutions throughout Japan, Nissho substantially broadens Cyan-s distribution network in the Asia Pacific region. Cyan-s industry leading metro SDN solution incorporates an open service orchestration platform, SDN applications, and a family of packet-optical transport platforms (P-OTPs) that allow businesses and carriers to build more efficient and scalable metro and regional networks at less than half the cost of prior-generation router-based architectures.
According to Cyan chairman and CEO Mark Floyd, “Nissho is an ideal partner for Cyan and we are pleased to be working with them in the Japanese market. They have a long history of technical leadership, being among the first to introduce ground-breaking new solutions to the market. This partnership is especially important given the expertise Nissho has with virtualization, a cloud data center concept that we see moving rapidly into the network.”
The agreement allows Nissho to represent, market, install, and support Cyan-s metro SDN solution in cloud data center, business Ethernet, 4G wireless backhaul, broadband backhaul, and wholesale transport networks, among others. The Cyan solution has already been deployed by over 115 customers globally, some of which are among the largest service providers in the world.
Added Kimitaka Sato, Executive Officer, General Manager of Marketing Division, Business Operation & Development Segment with Nissho Electronics, “We are pleased to be able to add Cyan-s revolutionary metro SDN solution to our portfolio. Clearly, we are seeing a new architecture rise up and displace router-based metro networks, one that is less expensive while exhibiting superior scaling and performance properties. Our partnership with Cyan will allow us to accelerate that architectural change in the Japanese market.”
The Cyan partnership with Nissho Electronics includes the Z-Series family of P-OTPs, as well as Cyan-s SDN orchestration platform and SDN applications. Specific applications include Cyan-s unique 3D network visualization software, as well as a full suite of network planning, management, and verification applications. These applications also work with an array of third-party network devices, including many that Nissho already supports.
