FRISCO, TX — (Marketwire) — 10/11/12 — Century Payments, Inc., an industry leader in payment processing, announced today that it has extended its three-year alliance with Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the global leader in the breast cancer movement, through September 2015. Over the past three years, Century has donated approximately $450,000 through its Every Swipe Counts program, which helps fight for a cure one credit card transaction at a time.
Through the Every Swipe Counts program, Century Payments donates $25 to Susan G. Komen on behalf of every merchant that begins processing with Century. In addition, a minimum of $0.01 of each credit card transaction is donated by Century to the cause with a minimum of $300,000 through September 2015. Merchants who participate in the Every Swipe Counts program can proudly display their participation through point-of-purchase signage and window displays which serve as a reminder to their customers and local communities of their commitment to the breast cancer movement.
Since 1982, Komen has played a critical role in nearly every major advance in the fight against breast cancer — transforming how the world talks about and treats this disease. With more than $740 million invested into innovative research, and more than $1.3 billion invested in programs and outreach for low-income, uninsured and underinsured women, the impact Komen is making in the fight against breast cancer is unparalleled.
The Every Swipe Counts program was created by Century Payments when breast cancer closely affected the company, as the co-founder-s wife was diagnosed with the disease. Due to the overwhelming support for their family from the Komen Denver Affiliate, it was decided by executives of the company to create a program that enables businesses to make a difference to this remarkable cause through a normal business practice of accepting credit cards.
“We are happy to be renewing our partnership with Century Payments until 2015. The Every Swipe Counts program allows individuals across the country to join the fight against breast cancer by simply swiping their credit card, and helps make possible innovative research and programs for women and men facing breast cancer,” said Dorothy Jones, VP of Marketing at Komen.
“When we started the Every Swipe Counts program we had one thing in mind; to help merchants receive honest, low-rate processing and help save lives at the same time,” stated Julie LaPolla, Senior Executive of Strategic Accounts at Century Payments. “Three years later we are proud to have donated nearly half a million dollars to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and are excited that we along with our customers have and will continue to help women, men and families affected by breast cancer.”
In addition to the extension of the partnership, Century and the Every Swipe Counts program will now be offered to the 120 Komen Affiliates around the nation — a first for the partnership.
