TPG ProjectDetails provides a better alternative in that task lists for project tasks, which are created externally, can be assigned to a specific task within Microsoft Project. By viewing the number of completed tasks in the list, the project manager has a much clearer idea of how the relevant project task is really progressing.
Another advantage of TPG ProjectDetails is that team members and project managers can continue to work independently of each other with their own data in external lists. Project managers can access up-to-date information about the status of a task at any time, as well as descriptions of risks or problems and additional documents. On a technical level TPG ProjectDetails is available with finished interfaces to SQL, SharePoint, and the Team Foundation Server. Further data sources can be integrated with customized interfaces. There is no limit to the number of lists the product can display. If required, task status and other data can be aggregated and imported from the external lists into the project plan. TPG ProjectDetails is compatible with Microsoft Project 2003, 2007 and the new version 2010.
