SANTA ANA, CA — (Marketwire) — 08/15/12 — To help support the athletes of the Special Olympics, Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM) donated $10,000 to the Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC). The check presentation was part of a recent “Associate Appreciation Day” which celebrated the company-s winning spirit, athletes everywhere and the community. Accepting the check on behalf of SOSC was David Armendariz, regional director SOSC, and Stephanie Hardy, Gold Medalist from the 2003 World Games in Dublin, Ireland.
“The Special Olympics is an incredible organization that touches the lives of millions of athletes and their families around the world, and we are proud to support them with this donation,” said Keith Bradley, senior executive vice president and president, Ingram Micro North America. “Giving back to the people and community we serve is one of the founding principles of our company. With the Olympics just concluding, it is a perfect time to give back and celebrate the winning spirit of all the associates here at Ingram Micro.”
Bradley, who recently returned from Scotland where he carried the Olympic Flame as a Torchbearer during the official Olympic Torch Relay, shared his experience with the 1,500 associates who work at the company-s headquarters in Santa Ana during the company-s own Associate Appreciation Day, complete with Office Olympic Games such as the “Shoe” put, tricycle races and an egg relay race. Bradley and other Ingram Micro executives presented the $10,000 donation to the representatives of the Special Olympics, which provides opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities to participate in year-round sports training and competition.
