FALLS CHURCH, VA — (Marketwire) — 08/13/12 — Accredited Standards Committee X12 (ASC X12) announced today that the ASC X12 Type 3 Technical Reports for reporting of post adjudicated claims are available at . The following implementation guides describe the use of the ASC X12 Health Care Claim transaction set for reporting post adjudicated data related to professional, institutional and dental health care services:
005010X298 | 837 Post Adjudicated Claims Data Reporting: Professional
005010X299 | 837 Post Adjudicated Claims Data Reporting: Institutional
005010X300 | 837 Post Adjudicated Claims Data Reporting: Dental
“ASC X12 is pleased to have worked with the All-Payer Claims Database Council (APCD Council) and the National Association of Health Data Organizations (NAHDO) to produce these implementation guides. The results of this collaborative effort will standardize reporting for states that collect medical claims data, ease the burden for payers required to submit such data, increase the quality of the data, and reduce the implementation costs for the health care industry,” said Margaret Weiker, ASC X12-s Insurance Subcommittee Chair.
Currently, 14 states have enacted legislation to collect health insurance claim and/or remittance information from both private and public payers to support the development of state-based All-Payer Claims Databases (APCDs). In addition to state reporting requirements, Medicare and Medicaid have defined business needs for similar claim/remittance data. The standard transactions described in these guides identify a single, standardized “best practices” model that meets the various business needs of these reporting requirements.
“ASC X12 remains committed to providing the industries we support, including the health care industry, with the detailed instructions needed for consistent and effective electronic exchanges. Once again, our dedicated members have partnered with other industry representatives to produce TR3s based on the ASC X12 family of standards that will benefit the health care industry for years to come,” added Cathy Sheppard, ASC X12-s Chair.
ASC X12, chartered by the American National Standards Institute more than 30 years ago, develops and maintains EDI and CICA standards along with XML schemas which drive business processes globally. The diverse membership of ASC X12 includes technologists and business process experts, encompassing health care, insurance, transportation, finance, government, supply chain and other industries.
