CINCINNATI, OH — (Marketwire) — 07/20/12 — At the recent Datalliance VMI Forum, Hubbell presented an impressive case study on the expansion of their (VMI) program in a presentation titled “Hubbell eCommerce Partner Services — Where Technology Connects People.” Hubbell implemented their Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) program with one goal — to make their distributor customers more successful. They see VMI as the key technology component of their Collaborative Commerce philosophy in which technology is used to get closer and more directly connected to their trading partners. Steve Antenucci, Senior VP of Sales, Hubbell Electrical Systems, stated, “VMI is the technology that connects us, one-to-one, with our trading partners. It facilitates a more collaborative relationship between our customers and the Hubbell e-Commerce group.”
Hubbell-s VMI program is one of the most successful and respected in the electrical industry. With almost 30 trading partner connections, several thousand partner sites, and over 30% of their business being conducted through VMI, it is one of the largest and fastest growing VMI efforts in the industry. Over the past year, much of this growth has come from expanding their VMI program to most of their major Electrical Systems brands including Kellems, Killark, RACO, Wiegmann and Premise; as well as to Hubbell Power Systems. “The evolution and expansion of our VMI program is a direct result of keeping our focus on helping customers to be more successful by growing sales, reducing costs, and improving efficiency,” explained John Riley, Manager e-Commerce, Hubbell. “We initially focused our efforts on realizing these results within one area of our business and have now rolled VMI out across nearly all of our brands. We are excited to offer the benefits of VMI and our overall Collaborative Commerce program to a broader range of distributor partners.”
Hubbell sees VMI as a logical business partnership program that strengthens trading partner relationships. “While VMI eliminates many manual and transactional processes within the procurement cycle, it also branches out far beyond standard stock-business with capabilities to support non-stock items, quotes, demand trends and spikes, and the inventory return process,” stated Riley. “The process efficiencies gained through VMI allow Hubbell and our partners to be more strategically connected than ever, where communication is instant, dedicated, and personal.”
