Huerth/Cologne, March 25, 2009. A conclusion, which could already be drawn in the forefront of WebhostingDay 2009, was confirmed not later than on the second event day: the conference, which took place from March 18-20 near Cologne, Germany was the world-wide largest event for the web hosting industry so far. With about 2,000 visitors and 55 exhibitors, WebhostingDay defied the general bad economic climate and was able to gather the most important members of the leading IT and Telco companies from all over the world to do some social networking and to learn some industry news.
Regarding the number of visitors, the event could grow by about 80 percent in comparison to the previous year. In terms of the partner companies, which contributed talks and fair booths, an increase of more than 30 percent was achieved. “What gives us more pride than the hard facts, however, is the solely positive feedback we received both from the exhibitors and the visitors” comments Thomas Strohe, founder of WebhostingDay and CEO of intergenia AG, on the event’s success.
The visitors delivered their thanks and congratulations in numerous e-mails. Some examples: “Congratulations with yet another superb WHD. I think you did a fantastic job“; “Hats off and big applause for this great event! I already thanked the team for their great job – it was a full success, both regarding business contacts and the whole organization of catering and fun!”; “A fantastic event, perfectly organized and with top-class speakers. My compliments”; “Great show, I found it very informative and hope to be able to participate again next year.”
One of the major topics this year was, of course, cloud computing. For example, in his talk “The Next Generation of Optimized Computing“, Serguei Belloussov, CEO of Parallels, gave an answer to the question how service providers and businesses can profit from this technology. And Jochen Polster, marketing expert from AMD, dedicated his speech “Quad-Core AMD Opteron Processors to Increase Business Opportunities, Enhance Service Quality and Deliver Energy-Efficient Solutions for Global Cloud Computing Customers” to the best hardware for cloud computing environments, especially with regard to CPUs. Moreover, SaaS was still an important topic in 2009, and was dealt with in various talks at WebhostingDay. Among those Stephan Martin’s (Open-Xchange) talk „Teamwork and Mobile Collaboration based on Open-Xchange SaaS Platform” or Jens Schneider (visionapp) with his speech „Expand your Business with an Out-of-box SaaS platform“. The slides of all talks will be available for download soon at www.webhostingday.com.
WebhostingDay is scheduled again for next year. It will probably take place March 24 to 26. Companies, which are interested in a partnership for 2010, can go ahead and contact the organizing team in order to get penciled in as a prospective partner. Attractive discounts on the sponsoring packages will be given to early birds.
