NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwire) — 06/22/12 — CrowdStream, a free mobile app that enhances the event experience and creates additional revenue streams for artists, allows fans attending live events to use social media and mobile technology to connect with each other and interact with artists during those events. Long recognized as a critical weakness along the artist-fan engagement continuum, at-event engagement represents a massive new opportunity for artists, while creating a new direct-to-artist channel for loyal fans.
Working directly with over 60 major label artists, including Mötley Crüe, Neon Trees, Shinedown, and The Wanted, CrowdStream is also used by a wide variety of indie and unsigned bands. Digital Manager Samantha Moore of In De Goot Entertainment says, “CrowdStream is a great app that benefits both the artist and the fan. The fan gets an enhanced and interactive show experience, while the artist is empowered to motivate and engage their fans in real-time.”
CrowdStream enables artists to engage with their fans when they-re most excited: While they-re at the show. Fans are able to interact with other fans at the event, and can win various prizes from the artist through the app, ranging from signed merchandise to meet & greets with the artist. In-app purchases of ticket sales, merchandise and ad hoc sales, music downloads, fan club memberships, etc. create additional artist revenue as well.
“We harness the ability to drive clicks from the fan-s viral activity to a custom page, which generates incremental viral activity, ticket sales, and other key artist metrics,” said Brian Bason, co-founder and CEO of CrowdStream. “This funnel has resulted in impressive numbers of viral sharing and incremental ticket sales in current tours.”
The way it works is simple: Fans download the app and follow artists they like (fans can automatically follow all artists in their music library and/or the ones they like on Facebook). Fans can check into events on CrowdStream, access photos, messages, and videos from the artist, and post and share content of their own. Event attendance is not mandatory; fans can check in and interact with a virtual event experience from anywhere in the world. CrowdStream can also be used to discover nearby events and new artists based on current geographic location.
“CrowdStream makes it easy for us to connect with our fans in the real world and turn the content they create into viral promotion for our bands. Fans upload photos and videos from shows all the time, and that content acts as a personal recommendation to their network. We-ve seen a lift in both social activity and direct ticket sales as a direct result of using CrowdStream and we-re looking forward to growing with CrowdStream for a long time to come,” said Jason Lekberg, VP of Digital Strategy and Marketing at Eleven Seven Music representing bands like Motley Crue and Buckcherry.
