Mostly in the area of SMB organisations, the pressure of cost drivers and keeping the stable level of quality towards the end customers are usual problems. We, the c.a.p.e. IT GmbH, and our partner, uib GmbH, follow the common strategy within service management: we decrease cost drivers and increase the data transparency. We achieve these goals through the extended, intelligent interfaces between the software management system opsi, service management tool KIX4OTRS and monitoring solutions like Nagios. Due to the requirements based on real needs, we extend and optimise existing functions as well as add new functions to the existing solutions.
The new opsi Nagios Connector is an important example for it. It extends opsi within webservice functions that include monitoring of Windows systems and it integrates monitoring of Nagios / Icinga directly. There is no need to collect, manage and configurate data double anymore.
More over, we improved the already well-known and recognized integration module OPSI4KIX that transfers inventory data from opsi to the configuration management database (CMDB) of KIX4OTRS within seconds. The function CI-Admin-Modules allows to go over a selected PC working station of an IT user directly from the CMDB and to switch to the opsi management interface directly from OTRS. Installing or deinstalling of applications within the Windows environment was never that easy and clear. Due to the extended connections between systems, the IT agent has all important data related to the service requests and can proceed the requests within a few clicks. It strongly minimizes the average solution time and improves the overview within IT.
