The transition to electric mobility is reasonable both ecologically and economically. A complete charging infrastructure is an essential pre-condition for this transition. With the pioneering P-CHARGE EWS-box, Schletter makes a contribution to this development.
The versatile control device allows the simultaneous charging of two vehicles with separated charging processes. The EWS-box works in mode-3 according to IEC 61851-1 and regulates even high charging powers in compliance with the relevant safety standards. The box controls two type-2 sockets, electric vehicles can be charged conveniently in a short time.
“The EWS box ist the perfect completion of our P-Charge series,” says Manfred Resch, the head of the P-Charge department, “in the development of this design, we mainly focussed on user-friendliness.” This approach resulted in a web-enabled device that makes the charging of electric cars easier than ever before.
A 16-bit processor is the core piece of the EWS-box. All relevant ambient data are processed quickly and precisely. The device adapts its charging power to the ampacity of the charging cable and activates a ventilation system if a vehicle has a gassing battery.
The EWS-box is user-friendly and fully networkable. The device has two serial interfaces for the connection of GPRS-modems and RFID-readers. The device also has a LAN-connection and an integrated HTML-page that graphically displays the state of the system and enables users and service technicians to configure the system without effort. The EWS-box can be combined with different locking systems. Thus, undesired interruptions of the charging process are impeded.
By means of a superordinate software application, the EWS-box can also be integrated in smart grid systems. This allows smart and optimized charging processes as well as an efficient load management. Thanks to its compact design, the EWS-box is especially suitable for the mounting on standardized load-bearing rails like cap rails according to DIN EN 60715. This makes it possible to place several EWS-boxes in a row.
The EWS-box is versatile. Among other things, it controls the P-Charge wall box by Schletter – for the sake of an efficient and clean road traffic.
