FRANKFURT, GERMANY — (Marketwire) — 04/17/12 — Luminus Devices, Inc., the leader in Big Chip LEDs, announced today that it has partnered with T-Opto, a division of Toyota Tsusho of America, to produce NovoLux, an LED module that replaces traditional 250W HID lamps. NovoLux has been deployed at the Toyota Motor manufacturing facility in Kentucky, USA and is being evaluated at additional Toyota Motor manufacturing plants worldwide.
NovoLux delivers up to 15,000 lumens, the brightest LED module on the market today. In addition to NovoLux, T-Opto has developed a range of complete high bay and outdoor area lighting fixtures. The fixtures have been designed to take advantage of the fact that the NovoLux is field replaceable, which enables simple maintenance.
“NovoLux represents an LED modular solution at a lumen level not available in the market today,” said Chuck DeMilo, Global Director of Product Marketing for Luminus. “An LED module with the power and efficacy to displace a 250W HID fixture is a significant milestone.”
Michael Handerhan, General Manager at T-Opto, stated, “Since the lumen output requirements for NovoLux were so high, we needed to implement Luminus- Big Chip technology. Having fewer LEDs reduced the complexity of the module and made our lives easier — while maintaining the highest performance. It also meant that we needed fewer optics, which was a significant cost savings for us.”
Luminus will be exhibiting in Hall 4.2, Stand G02 at Light + Building, April 15-20 at Messe Frankfurt in Frankfurt, Germany, where the NovoLux module will be on display. For more information on how Luminus is enabling the conversion of today-s conventional lighting fixtures to LED, visit .
