TUSTIN, CA — (Marketwire) — 04/02/12 — Arium today announced support for the Freescale i.MX 6 Series of processors with Arium-s hardware-assisted debuggers. From the i.MX 6SoloLite Family to the i.MX 6Quad Family, Arium provides a simple plug-n-play experience for i.MX 6 developers. Arium supports the entire line of Freescale i.MX application processors. The latest support package caters to Arium-s strength in multi-core debug, real-time trace capture and analysis, as well as Linux OS-aware debug features.
Arium also offers Board Support Packages for the Freescale i.MX6 Saber Lite Development Board and the NovTech NOVPEKi.MX6D/Q Platform Evaluation Kit. The i.MX6Quad Processor used on these designs contains four Cortex A9 cores and offers a 16 KB Embedded Trace Buffer (ETB). Using Arium-s SourcePoint debugger with the LC-500S, a developer can configure the ETB to capture an exact code sequence leading up to a specific problem. With a 16 KB ETB, the LC-500S can typically capture over 100,000 instructions, and with the proper use of filtering, a developer can analyze system behavior over a significant period of time. With the click of a button, users can immediately switch between cores, providing insight into the status of each core. Multi-core processors can be run-controlled independently or as a group, depending on user requirements. Linux developers can debug at the Kernel, Driver, and Application level all from one graphical interface.
“Arium is committed to fully support Freescale,” said Larry Traylor, CEO of Arium. “The i.MX series continues to evolve in complexity and power and fits perfectly with Arium-s advanced debug features. As SoCs become more sophisticated, debug support for multi-core, ETB, and Linux is an absolute requirement.”
Yossi Har-Nov of NovTech, Inc., stated, “By using ETB and the other features of the Arium LC-500S, we were able to quickly find the root cause of problems encountered while porting Linux to our NOVPEK i.MX6D/Q Platform.”
