HONG KONG — (Marketwire) — 03/22/12 — , Asia-s premier provider of connectivity and data hosting services, today announced the launch of Hong Kong CloudSpace2 (HKCS2), the company-s newest data center in Hong Kong.
“Hong Kong-s high level of international network connectivity, reliable power supply and low risk to natural disasters are key factors that have contributed to our decision to invest in building HKCS2, our latest, state-of-the-art CloudSpace data center, here,” said Bill Barney, Chief Executive Officer of Pacnet. “Hong Kong, which now hosts four of our data centers, is also a strategic location within our network of connected data centers across Asia as it is centrally positioned in the region and highly connected through our EAC-C2C subsea cable network, making our facilities here an essential part of any businesses needing a robust, Asia-wide data center infrastructure.”
“The Government is committed to promoting Hong Kong as the locale of choice for setting up data centers in the Asia Pacific region, and developing Hong Kong as a hub of technology cooperation and trade. We are glad that Pacnet has chosen Hong Kong as part of its data center expansion plan. This reaffirms our status as the prime location for data centers in the region. Companies can leverage our unique geographical position and competitive edge to advance their businesses in Asia Pacific. We will continue to facilitate the setting up of data centers here in Hong Kong,” said Daniel Lai, BBS, JP, Government Chief Information Officer, Hong Kong.
The two-story facility, located at Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate, is Pacnet-s second CloudSpace data center in Hong Kong and features a high-power density, delivering up to 10kVA of power per cabinet to meet the most demanding equipment requirements.
Similar to Pacnet-s first CloudSpace data center Hong Kong CloudSpace1 (HKCS1) located just 100 meters away, HKCS2 is built within the site of one of Pacnet-s wholly-owned cable landing stations. Both of these CloudSpace data centers are unique among data centers in the region as they have direct access to Pacnet-s EAC-C2C subsea cable network, offering high-capacity, low-latency international connectivity that is critical to many of today-s business applications. Additionally, Pacnet-s EAC-C2C subsea cable network connects into Hong Kong via six diverse paths, offering the highest number of redundant routes among the subsea cables landing into Hong Kong for unparallelled reliability.
CloudSpace data centers are premier Tier III data center facilities fully operated by Pacnet and built to exacting standards to offer a high-availability environment which ensures the uninterrupted performance of mission-critical equipment. These facilities will exceed the high-power, high-performance and high-efficiency requirements of content-driven organizations and multi-site organizations.
With the launch of HKCS2, Pacnet now operates 22 data centers across the region, four of which are CloudSpace facilities.
