March 01, 2010 (Essen, Germany) – FHCon announced the release and immediate availability of IDMLlib, which enables developers to use simple Java functions to quickly access text, image and metadata content in Adobe InDesign Markup Language (IDML) files.
Fast, Easy Access to IDML Information for the First Time
Using IDMLlib, Java users gain full access to text, images, geometry and all IDML elements via an IDML Java object model with more than 800 classes, including special IDML classes. IDMLlib requires no XML knowledge to use and automatically converts type from XML to Java. In addition, IDMLlib users can load just what they need from an IDML file and can employ shell-like Groovy scripting to automate processes.
Use IDML to Create a World of New Application Solutions
By unlocking information that has formerly been trapped in IDML documents, IDMLlib creates opportunities for new classes of valuable applications. For example, using IDMLlib, organizations, can now:
· Centralize and customize the preflight of Adobe InDesign documents
· Prepare InDesign documents for InDesign Server
· Access information in InDesign files from other applications
· Extract content from InDesign documents to publish it on websites and mobile devices
· Check and compare InDesign documents for quality-assurance workflow
· Create translation environments and workflows
· Track and catalog the use of images automatically in digital assets managers
· Transfer InDesign data into databases
Pricing, Availability and Free Trials
IDMLlib is available immediately and costs 499 $ (Desktop License), 1,999 $ (Server License) and 699 $ to 5,599 $ (Developer Licenses). Interested users can get a full- function, 30-day trial version from http://idmllib.com.
About IDMLlib and the IDML Document Format
Beginning with Adobe Creative Suite 4, users can export InDesign documents to IDML format, which represents document contents in an XML-based object model. Unlike it cryptic predecessor InDesign Interchange Format (INX), the IDML format is human-readable, and is now used to export InDesign snippets, libraries and InCopy tasks.
