Announced on March 7, 2012 by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the MultilingualWeb-LT Working Group-s primary mission is to develop standards to better integrate language technologies with web technologies, content management systems, and localization work flows. The Working Group will examine the standardization of content information (the “metadata”) with commonly used tools to ultimately improve translation quality, expand language coverage (especially for those languages that are less widely spoken), and reduce costs.
