Introduction of tapeless production in the newsroom
Michael Henkel, Business Relations Manager Asia at S4M, gives a lecture at BMS (Broadcast & Multimedia Show Conference) in Jakarta on November 7, 12.00 p.m., entitled „Going tapeless in the newsroom. Challenges faced and changes required.“
Henkel reports on the experiences of a news channel having switched over to tapeless production. The presentation focuses on the workflow and qualification aspects involved as well as on the benefits that can be gained from the move – like effectiveness, transparency and flexibility. S4M’s Business Relations Manager Asia further discusses whether journalists have to become broadcast engineers and what will happen to the cutters. Finally Henkel sums up the pros and cons of going tapeless and gives examples from S4M’s costumers.
BMS is the biggest broadcast exhibition in Indonesia and takes place every two years. The theme for the accompanying conference 2008 is “The Path to Digital Broadcasting”. It is the aim of the BMS to update broadcasters on the latest developments in digital broadcasting from the technical, regulatory, content and business planning perspectives.
