NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwire) — 01/18/12 — AboutOne (), the online organizer that makes it fast, fun, and easy to preserve family memories and manage household information, today announced that founder and CEO Joanne Lang will speak at NYU-s 2nd annual Women Entrepreneurs Festival 2012 (), a gathering of outstanding women entrepreneurs and investors eager to share their knowledge and experiences with other women starting their own businesses. This year the keynote speaker will be Arianna Huffington of The Huffington Post.
When selecting this year-s panelists, WE Festival Chairs Nancy Hechinger and Joanne Wilson sought entrepreneurs with disruptive business models that are reshaping the way people live their lives. The theme of this year-s WE Festival is Making It, and the Festival is comprised of six panels: Knowledge Makers, Makers of Stuff, Change Makers, Community Makers, Taste Makers, and Art Makers.
Lang will speak today as part of the Change Makers panel, moderated by Jessica Harris, producer and host of From Scratch (), a weekly NPR radio show about the entrepreneurial life. Other panelists include Caren Maio, CEO and co-founder of Nestio, Erin Newkirk, CEO and co-founder of RedStamp, Deborah Adler, of Deborah Adler LLC, and Elena Silenok, founder and CEO of Clothia.
Most recently, Lang spoke on the Moms as CEOs of the Household panel during the MommyTech Summit, a lifestyle exhibition and conference embedded within the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show and focused exclusively on the newest technology innovations and trends aimed at the $90 billion dollar Mommy market.
Former software company executive and cloud technology expert Lang-s company AboutOne recently closed over $1.7 million in Series A financing in a round led by Golden Seeds. The company has also partnered with Microsoft and Suze Orman (IDSafe) to launch a new version of AboutOne based on feedback from the company-s current customers and focused on rewarding users for being organized.
“AboutOne was created from my direct experiences as the mother of four children,” said Lang. “I use LinkedIn for business and Facebook to manage my social life, but those applications own my data. Before AboutOne, there was no single, private, secure option to help me manage my family and home life. Because I-m committed to empowering families with a comprehensive new technology that helps simplify life, I-m absolutely delighted about the opportunity to speak on the Change Makers panel.”
