Forward-looking technologies such as gigabit and fiber optic are gaining
importance for network printing as well. When the powerful gigabit and fiber optic
cables reach directly up to the printer, network printing benefits from much faster
data transmission and more available bandwidth for voluminous print jobs. Fiber
optic networks offer eavesdropping-secure data transmission on top of this.
Security is also very important for wireless networks. As a matter of course, the
new SEH WLAN print server utilizes the latest WLAN encryption standards
WPA/WPA2.
Network Printing in Fiber Optic and Gigabit Networks
The SEH print servers PS129 and PS1129 connect Kyocera output devices directly
to the fiber network. This has two major advantages: Print data are safely
transmitted right up to the printer and media converters are no longer needed.
Such converters often cause failures and downtime. Utilizing fiber optic print
servers significantly reduces maintenance costs. In addition to this, the model
PS1129 offers all the advantages of fast data transmission and bi-directional
communication in gigabit networks.
Up-to-date WLAN-Standards for Kyocera Output Devices
PS159 is a new SEH WLAN print server for Kyocera output devices. It utilizes the
currently safest WLAN encryption standards WPA and WPA2 (Personal und
Enterprise Mode) and is also compatible with the older standard WEP. WPA2
provides a stronger encryption mechanism through Advanced Encryption Standard
(AES). AES is mandatory for FIPS 140-2 (Federal Information Processing
Standard), a standard that describes US Federal government requirements for IT
products implementing cryptography. WPA2 is increasingly gaining importance for
the financial community and the insurance industry. There are many fields of
application for WLANs, e.g. fast and cost-effective extensions of cabled networks,
networked operations in buildings where structural integrity is essential, mobile
networks in meeting or training rooms, and temporary networks at special events.
Users can quickly and easily install, configure, and manage the three new
interface cards PS129, PS1129, and PS159. All models are IPv6-enabled and come
with the latest ThinPrint .print client including ThinPrint SSL encryption support. As
with all SEH high end print servers the support of all common operating systems
and protocols as well as service and support is included.
