BERKELEY, CA — (Marketwire) — 10/13/11 — Berkeley Bionics, designer and creator of exoskeletons that physically augment humans, has rebranded both the company name and its product line. From this day forward, the company shall be known as Ekso Bionics, and eLEGS, a device that powers wheelchair users up and gets them standing and walking again, becomes Ekso.
“The new brand names better reflect who we are and where we are headed,” said Eythor Bender, CEO of Ekso Bionics. “We began as a small university project, but today we need to speak a universally understood language that communicates what our products do to boost customer experiences. Our intention is to stay at the forefront of this incredible and new technological platform. 2010 was an extraordinary year for us and 2011 was even better. We have had tremendous support from the health community and beyond, and we want all of you to know that we appreciate your belief in us and what we aim to do: Design a product line of wearable robots that is useful for everyone, everywhere. We can-t do it without you.”
Ekso Bionics () — formerly known as Berkeley Bionics, based in Berkeley, California, is a designer and maker of wearable robots — or exoskeletons — that physically augment humans.
