Monetising anonymous mobile signal data can benefit developers by £1-4m
London, UK. 24 May, 2017: Tutela, the crowd-sourced wireless analytics monetisation (WAM) company, has today announced its intentions to work with weather app developers to help them earn £1-4m of additional revenue.
Weather apps are a mainstay in app stores with thousands used daily. Such strong customer bases can be utilised by developers using Tutela’s software package (SDK) to generate more income and cement their position in the market.
Tutela’s SDK is currently deployed across millions of devices and hundreds of thousands of apps throughout Europe. It predicts that European app developers can collectively make in excess of £1-4m in revenues in 2017 as a result of WAM.
Unlike other forms of data monetisation, Tutela does not collect any personal information or unique device data. This protects the device owner’s privacy and ensures compliance with data protection and privacy laws like the EU Data Protection Directive and COPPA.
Tom Luke, Vice President, Tutela, said: “We’re very excited to be focusing on the weather app market. It has been around since the first app stores opened and has devoted, knowledgeable developers creating some of the most used apps in the world. We want to work with them, share our experience of the industry and fill their coffers.”
Tom continues: “Research indicates that apps that contain ads or request payments drive a colossal 63 per cent of adults away. However, we can provide app developers with alternative revenue streams, which means that they don’t need to rely on intrusive advertising or subscription fees to stay profitable – achieving their financial goals without vexing their customers.”
Hunter Macdonald, Co-founder and CEO of Tutela said “Our customers are extremely important to us and we do everything we can to ensure they have the best support. This is how we have built up partnerships with over 1500 developers, harnessing data from over 13 million unique devices worldwide each day. So, if we can turn our attentions to making our family even bigger, we will not stop until each and every developer has our patented SDK to help them conquer their respective markets.”
The data collected by Tutela’s SDK is used by mobile telecoms companies to quickly understand and improve networks for their users. They pay Tutela for the data and Tutela in turn shares the revenue with the mobile app developers who can pass on the saving to customers, creating a mutual beneficial outcome for all involved parties. An additional benefit of SDK is that it has absolutely no impact on app performance.
App publishers can use Tutela’s revenue calculator to estimate the earnings available to them through Tutela–s app developer programme.
