Semitrex Awarded Twentieth Patent for Power Conversion Technology

IRVINE, CA — (Marketwired) — 08/17/16 — Adding to its rapidly expanding patent portfolio of efficient charging technologies, power semiconductor solutions company today announced that it has been awarded its twentieth patent. This milestone patent joins other patents recently awarded in countries throughout the world. These patents acknowledge Semitrex–s leading innovation in creating a highly efficient power converter system, including its unique capacitor-based and quasi-resonant transformer-based power circuits.

In April of last year, by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Since that time, the company has made great strides toward its goal of bringing energy efficiencies to power supplies and a wide range of applications worldwide. In the first half of 2016 alone, Semitrex has been awarded five patents in three countries, protecting several of its core technologies including the highly efficient switched capacitor-based Muxcapacitor®, as well as its efficient, quasi-resonant transformer-based power converter technologies. Semitrex continues to expand its influence in electrical power delivery systems with patent applications filed in the United States, 21 countries in Europe and other countries, including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, China, and Malaysia.

“We are taking a very aggressive approach to protecting our unique IP,” noted Michael H. Freeman, J.D., CEO/CTO for Semitrex. “By doing so, we have created great value in our proprietary technology and taken an essential step that allows us to be protected and continue to make additional innovations. Having 20 patents issued and over 150 pending is validation that our technology is ready to make an impact on one of the biggest challenges facing the world today — better energy efficiency.”

The ruling gives Semitrex broad patent protection on its core energy efficiency power supply technologies, which can convert mains power worldwide to virtually any lower voltage with over 90 percent efficiency (across all current loads) from 20 milliamps up, with less than 1 milliwatt of standby draw power. Found in Semitrex–s TRONIUM® Power Supply System(s) on a Chip® (PSSoC®) and the TRONIUM Inverter Supply Systems on a Chip (ISSoC), the Muxcapacitor process is a pre-regulation voltage reduction technology that enables high energy efficiencies in power down and up conversions. This process is what sets the Semitrex approach to power conversion apart from traditional methods.

For the past four years, leading U.S. business law firm has been working on the Semitrex patent portfolio. Engineer and senior patent attorney James Yee (BSEE, J.D.) has directed Semitrex–s patent work worldwide. According to Yee, “The allowance of Semitrex–s twentieth patent in less than four years– time is reflective of the significant progress that the company has made and the uniqueness of its technologies. These victories are the direct result of Michael Freeman–s vision and focus, not only on the technology, but also on increasing the value of the company through building a robust patent portfolio.”
