Lastline Top Performer in NSS Labs 2016 Breach Detection Study

REDWOOD CITY, CA — (Marketwired) — 08/02/16 — Lastline, Inc., a leader in the Advanced malware protection market, has been recognized as the top security effectiveness performer in the NSS Labs 2016 Breach Detection Group Test. The Group Test, and the corresponding Breach Detection Systems (BDS) Security Value Map, were released today at the Black Hat USA 2016 security event in Las Vegas. Lastline Enterprise received NSS Labs– Recommended rating for the second year in a row. Nine products participated in this year–s test.

Lastline Enterprise received a perfect detection rate of 100.0% percent in all test categories with zero false positives. NSS Labs provides empirical testing of the threats faced by organizations all over the world, including: Drive-by Exploits, Social [Media] Exploits, as well as threats targeting web and email traffic. The test measures the ability of the solution to identify the evasive actions of malware — those actions malware takes to prevent detection by security solutions such as Lastline Enterprise

“We are ecstatic with the test results,” said Brian Laing, Vice President of Business Development and Products. “NSS Labs is one of the recognized leaders in providing neutral security product testing. Cyber criminals are getting increasingly more sophisticated and are using next level techniques to breach systems, plant advanced persistent threats in a company–s network, or hold a company–s own data for ransom.”

“Lastline–s exceptional team of software engineers and malware researchers continually work to improve our patented technology, identifying and stopping malware before it permeates the organization and enabling our customers to focus on their primary business critical activities. Our solutions are scalable and easy to implement,” Laing added.

“The NSS report is further evidence of Lastline–s efficacy against what are easily the most leveraged entry techniques used by current cyber threats of all types. Their technology enables our Advanced Malware Protection and Detection (AMPD) solution line to more effectively detect and stop phishing and web exploits before they strike our clients, lowering risk, response effort and expense,” said Aaron Hackworth, Senior Distinguished Engineer at SecureWorks.

SecureWorks is a leading global provider of intelligence-driven information security solutions exclusively focused on protecting its clients from cyberattacks.

“Lastline Enterprise is the only offering we have tested to achieve 100% Detection with no false positives. Breach Detection Solutions are one of the must-have technologies for an organization in order to defend against the costly impact of malware infections. The security effectiveness, and cost effectiveness, of Lastline Enterprise makes it a great option to augment any corporation–s security ecosystem,” said Vikram Phatak, CEO at NSS Labs.

NSS Labs, a leader in independent security product testing and research, conducted comprehensive security effectiveness testing across eight BDS vendors. NSS–s test utilizes threats and attack methods that exist in the wild and that are currently being used by cybercriminals and other threat actors. For live testing, NSS employs their Cyber Advanced Warning System (CAWS), to measure how well security products protect against “drive-by” exploits that target client applications. All vendor products were deployed in replicated enterprise environments and evaluated for their ability to detect a wide range of malware and exploits that attackers use in malicious Web, e-mail and other delivery methods to evade security products, gain footholds in networks and compromise sensitive information. Attacks that were detected by traditional defenses such as anti-malware endpoint protection were discarded so that only those attacks that were otherwise undetected were used to test Breach Detection Systems. Lastline is participating at Black Hat USA 2016 in Las Vegas. Companies interested in a meeting with Lastline at Black Hat to discuss the results of this test in greater detail are encouraged to visit us in Booth #120. Three of the company–s founders will also be presenting Wednesday, August 3, and Thursday, August 4 at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm daily.

Lastline focuses on real-time analysis of advanced malware and knowing the Internet–s malicious infrastructure. The company–s patented technology leads the industry in the detection of active breaches caused by advanced persistent threats, targeted attacks and evasive malware. Lastline–s Deep Content Inspection goes beyond the legacy malware analysis used in most firewalls, UTM–s, IPS systems, and antimalware software. Lastline–s open architecture integrates advanced threat defenses and intelligence into existing operational workflows and security systems. Inspection of suspicious objects occurs at scale in real-time using a full-system emulation approach to sandboxing that is superior to virtual machine-based and OS emulation techniques. Lastline–s technology correlates network and object analysis to achieve timely breach confirmation and incident response. Lastline was built by Anubis and Wepawet researchers and industry veterans with decades of experience focused specifically on advanced breach weaponry and tactics.

Headquartered in Redwood City, California with offices throughout North America, Europe and Asia, Lastline–s platform is used by global managed security service providers, Global 2000 enterprises and leading security vendors worldwide. To learn more, visit .
