Dresner Advisory Services Publishes Inaugural Collective Insights Market Study

NASHUA, NH — (Marketwired) — 04/29/16 — Dresner Advisory Services today published the first edition Collective Insights Market Study, the latest report in the Wisdom of Crowds® series of research. The new report builds on the company–s research on collaborative business intelligence (BI), extending the research criteria to include user and content governance.

Collaborative BI is a process where individuals in organizations work together to build and share insights to develop a common understanding and build consensus. User governance enhances the collaborative BI environment by directing content creation and sharing, thus improving information consistency and accelerating group-based decision-making.

The inaugural report shows that governance of BI content creation and sharing is extraordinarily important to more than 90 percent of the respondents, and correlates strongly to success with BI. Top governance features include defining levels of access to content and integration with enterprise identity management systems.

The report also addresses the importance of data storytelling features in BI, which permit scripting of formerly static presentations with live data for more interactive discussion and drill down. Forty percent of respondents say data storytelling is “critical” or “important”, and it correlates to success with business intelligence.

According to the 2016 Collective Insights study, industry support for data storytelling features is currently above 60 percent for the top three features including author highlighting, user interaction with visual/analytical objects, and author-defined navigation of objects.
