SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 04/20/16 — , the global innovator in software network virtualization, today announced that the open-source as an optional performance accelerator for the Dell Red Hat OpenStack Cloud Solution, the on-premise cloud offering based on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform.

“The Dell Red Hat OpenStack Cloud Solution helps organizations rapidly build their OpenStack clouds and transform their IT environment into a cost-effective, secure, highly-available, and dynamic service-delivery center,” said Ranjith Purush, director of product management, Dell Engineered Solutions and Cloud. “This collaboration enables organizations to flexibly build Dell–s solution with optional network virtualization technology from Midokura.”

enables organizations to accelerate implementation with proven reference architectures, deploy applications on certified Dell servers, storage and networking platforms, automate OpenStack configuration and deploy the complete software stack in a rapid and repeatable process.

Enterprises and service provider users of MEM, with the Dell Red Hat OpenStack Cloud Solution, can benefit from a network virtualization overlay designed for OpenStack, enabling them to create an agile cloud networking infrastructure based on open technologies.

According to Northbridge–s 2015 Future of Open Source survey, almost 80 percent of enterprises today run on open source. Both Dell and Red Hat are committed to delivering best-in-class open source solutions. While Red Hat has an ecosystem of networking plug-ins for Neutron, MEM is the first certified plug-in for Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 7.

“We know that Dell is bringing together the best products in the OpenStack space, so we–re excited and proud to be a part of this solution,” said Adam Johnson, vice president of business at Midokura. “The Dell Red Hat OpenStack Cloud Solution dramatically reduces the complexity of deploying OpenStack, since Dell has already done the heavy lifting of evaluating the plug-ins and options, and assembling a polished package for end-users to consume.”

“We are a proud member of the Dell OpenStack Initiative and thrilled to offer our unique brand of network virtualization with the Dell Red Hat OpenStack Cloud Solution,” said Johnson. “Dell is a trusted global enterprise vendor, so having Dell–s OpenStack-powered solution is a testament to the maturity and quality of our Midokura Enterprise MidoNet technology.”

MEM is an award-winning network virtualization solution designed for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) clouds. The technology offers an intelligent, software-based network abstraction layer between the hosts and the physical network, by decoupling the IaaS cloud from the network hardware. Operators in turn can build isolated networks in software that overlays the existing hardware-based network infrastructure. The latest release of MEM offers enhanced operational and management features, along with new support for OpenStack Kilo, and for container-based environments, such as Docker.
