Health Language Promotes April Yoder to Vice President of Professional Services

DENVER, CO — (Marketwire) — 08/10/11 — (HLI), the global leader in medical terminology management, today announced that April Yoder has been promoted from director to vice president of HLI-s division. As director, Yoder oversaw the growth of the division and the expansion of services and product support to help HLI-s hospital, health system, payer and health information technology (HIT) vendor customers leverage HLI-enabled interoperability to transform care quality, clinical and operational efficiencies, patient safety, and data mining analytics. As vice president, she will set the strategic direction to facilitate the development of client support offerings that strengthen HLI-s expanding market presence worldwide.

“To support the growing demand for HLI-s professional services, April implemented methodologies and processes that boost efficiency and productivity. She also created an environment that attracts and retains highly qualified and motivated experts, which facilitated her ability to quadruple the number of professional services employees,” stated HLI President and CEO George Schwend. “Our customers are eager to work with our professional services team to leverage HLI-s unique suite of solutions to help create new business opportunities and achieve a competitive advantage as they confront the structural changes that are reshaping the healthcare industry.”

At HLI, April leads a team of clinicians, informatics experts, project managers, technical leads and documentation support specialists. They implement a broad spectrum of HLI offerings, including all deployments of the (LE), which is at the core of all HLI software tools. The professional services team also provides training and consulting services that address specific customer needs.

Yoder has more than 20 years of experience in professional services. Prior to joining HLI, she was a Project Director for satellite TV provider, DISH Network, where she directed a two-year program that consolidated, simplified and architected customer facing product data to enhance the client experience. Previously, she served as the Director of Project Management for Jones Cyber Solutions, a customer care and relationship management software company. Her responsibilities included coordinating and leading project teams within and outside the U.S. that managed large, multi-tiered programs for the implementation of telecommunications customer service software. Yoder earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Regis University.

Over the past decade, HLI has achieved global dominance in medical terminology management with HLI solutions and content in use at more than 4,000 major sites in North and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific countries. This includes working with health ministries such as the United Kingdom-s National Health Service where HLI-s professional services division helped implement a software infrastructure to streamline the updating, mapping and distribution of standard controlled vocabularies.

In the U.S., the professional services division has provided a wide variety of services to more than 60 major clients including health systems, health information exchanges, virtually all major HIT/EHR vendors, government agencies, trade associations, and nine major health insurers that provide coverage to about 75 million members. HLI and its professional services experts also work closely with standards-setting organizations worldwide.

This practical experience and unique perspective also help HLI introduce outside-the-box products such as the Language Engine Access Portal I-10 (LEAP I-10). This web-based mapping module allows payers and providers to use actual data to create organization-specific “what if” scenarios to help them prepare for, assess and preemptively address the financial, technology and operational impact of the transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure code sets.

“My top priority is to drive the quality, depth, ease-of-use and superiority of HLI-s services even higher,” Yoder explained. “I look forward to working strategically with senior executives to achieve that goal and further increase HLI-s worldwide market leadership in medical terminology management.”
