MARKHAM, ONTARIO — (Marketwired) — 07/23/15 — Amfeltec Corporation announced today that the second product of Amfeltec–s Squid PCI Express Carrier Board family, the PCI Express Carrier Board for M.2 SSD modules, is now in full production.
PCI Express Carrier Board for M.2 SSD Modules is in the form of a standard one-slot-wide, half-height and half-length PCI Express board; it has four (4) M.2 connectors (M-key). They are located on both sides of the carrier board (two on the top surface and two on the bottom), and can accommodate any standard M.2 SSD with x4 PCI Express Interface.
“Amfeltec is proud to release its Squid family. Since the release of the first product, last month, we have observed an even greater customer interest in multi-module PCI express carrier boards, than before,” says Michael Feldman, President and CTO at Amfeltec Corp. “The new Carrier Board for M.2 SSD Modules is based on the same new patent-pending assembly concept as the first (MiniPCIe Carrier Board) Squid product: the carrier board is located in the middle of the PCI Express slot. Such placement allows for not one but two-sided positioning of M.2 circuits, thus providing the maximum capacity for M.2 add-in modules. This simplifies M.2 modules– air cooling, and provides a more cost-effective solution.”
The upstream connection from the carrier board to the motherboard is done via exchangeable male x16 PCI Express adapters (with optional x4 and x8 versions). This allows the carrier board to be inserted into different sizes of PCI Express connectors without encountering well-known limitations.
