AUSTIN, TX — (Marketwired) — 06/17/15 — — , the innovator and pioneer of public access gateways, has announced Nomadix Service Engine (NSE) version 8.5 for its AG 2400, AG 5600 and AG 5800 . These gateways help venue owners improve guest service while slowing the growth of Internet access costs by effectively managing bandwidth and guest access in hotels, convention centers, cruise ships and any visitor network.
Headlining the list of features of version 8.5 is Weighted Fair Queuing, which allows venue owners to promise guests who pay more for access that they will in fact get better access, especially when the volume of traffic increases. Even when one user attempts to monopolize bandwidth, those who paid more will receive proportionately more. In addition, IT administrators can allocate specific amounts of bandwidth for different sectors of the hotel or other entity — allowing contractual obligations to be met while giving everyone else an equitable share.
“A common occurrence in the hospitality industry is the over-subscription of Internet access,” said Nomadix Chief Commercial and Operating Officer Fred Reeder. “When there is more bandwidth demand than supply, hotels tend to get a lot of angry customers. With our Weighted Fair Queuing and other gateway enhancements, hoteliers can focus their energies on customer service and guest needs, knowing that they are keeping their commitment to guests who have paid extra or whose loyalty status entitles them to a higher level of performance.”
In addition to Weighted Fair Queuing, other features and enhancements of version 8.5 include:
Facebook Authentication – allows operators with tiered or paying business models to offer guests limited free Internet access when they log in using their Facebook accounts. In return, operators obtain valuable social network information for use in crafting targeted promotions and viral marketing campaigns.
PMS Redirect over TCP/IP – facilitates customer migration to cloud-based PMS solutions by enabling the full exchange of folio information across TCP/IP networks. Integrators who assist customers with cloud deployments or migrations will now be able to offer more visibility into the Guest Folio over all connections for the FIAS interface.
Micros Fidelio No Post Interface – a “no post” notification to the PMS allows hoteliers to restrict cash guests from using a room charge to access internet services.
Volume-Based Billing – provides venue operators more flexibility in setting and enforcing billing policies by supporting total bytes used as well as bytes used on the uplink or the downlink. This is very valuable to customers using an ISP with a remote data source such as a satellite.
Group Accounts Time Limit – offers conference and other group venues increased convenience and ease of operation by providing for automatic termination of group accounts at an appointed time. With this feature, group management staff does not need to remember to manually delete group accounts at the end of the group event.
Nomadix gateways are designed to meet the needs of properties at a variety of sizes. The AG 2400 gateway serves smaller properties, such as hotels with up to 150 rooms, and supports the deployment of wired or wireless networks with up to 300 simultaneous mobile devices. The AG 5600 and AG 5800 gateways serve larger properties with up to 2,000 and 4,000 simultaneous users, respectively.
NSE 8.5 will be available in Q3 2015. For more information, please contact Nomadix at +1.818.597.1500 or visit .
