NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwired) — 05/26/15 — Information Builders, a leader in () and analytics, information integrity, and integration solutions, today announced that the Georgia Department of Labor is using WebFOCUS to track the outcome of its Employ Georgia initiative, a state program that matches unemployed workers with available jobs. WebFOCUS helps state officials determine how well the program is working, identify people who need help, and better understand the demographics of the people seeking assistance.
The Georgia Department of Labor provides a wide range of services to job seekers and employers. This busy state agency, which employs about 1,500 people, administers Georgia–s unemployment insurance program and employment services. Professionals in the department–s Workforce Solutions Division rely on WebFOCUS to track program metrics related to employment services for job seekers and employers throughout the state, as well as deliver labor statistics to federal and state agencies.
“We use WebFOCUS to look right into the data and gather what we need,” said Alan Carson, workforce systems manager in the Georgia Department of Labor, Workforce Solutions Division. “WebFOCUS not only enables us to help individual citizens, but also to understand trends in the population as a whole. It is a key tool that enables us to help unemployed people get back to work.”
The Georgia Department of Labor has a large base of citizens under its purview, with as many as 500,000 people enlisting its employment services each year. Tracking their activities generates a huge amount of data. Caseworkers at 46 independent career centers depend on WebFOCUS to view and analyze this data through interactive maps, charts, and graphs. In addition, government officials rely on WebFOCUS reports to monitor labor trends such as how many people return to work each month, how long they maintain their jobs, average employee earnings, and other important statistics. This labor data is not only valuable to Georgia citizens, but also to the country as a whole, since it helps economists understand trends in the U.S. economy.
The Workforce Solutions Division uses WebFOCUS ReportCaster to schedule and automatically broadcast reports to managers at the career centers, saving them time that they used to spend manually running reports. For example, users can see at a glance how employment rates are trending, today versus last month or last year. This type of analysis is also valuable when the division applies for grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture–s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) program.
