WASHINGTON, DC — (Marketwired) — 03/25/15 — — Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) today announced that , a public research institution located in Boise, Idaho, selected ) to transform core financial processes and gain new agility to advance educational opportunities. By selecting Oracle–s cloud-based solution, the university will also eliminate the initial and ongoing costs of purchasing, building out, and modernizing hardware infrastructure — reducing its data center footprint and IT management burden while delivering scalability, reliability, and rapid time to value. Boise State will work with on the implementation.
Oracle ERP Cloud was chosen to help the university to achieve four important goals:
Automate and transform business processes across the entire ERP lifecycle including financial management and billing, procurement, grant management, project management and reporting to drive greater operational efficiency and organizational effectiveness.
Empower staff with information and critical insight when and where they need it
Reduce IT complexity and boost IT agility to meet rapidly changing needs
Improve total cost of IT ownership while ensuring scalability
In the first phase of the deployment, the university plans to roll out the system to more than 500 users — including finance team members, university administrators, and academic staff members. Oracle ERP Cloud, through its intuitive user interface as well as dashboard functionality, enables business users to access the financial and operational information they require without the need for IT team assistance, improving decision-making.
Boise State University, like many academic enterprises, found that its legacy on-premises ERP environment, which required ongoing investment as well as time-consuming and expensive upgrades, did not provide the agility the university required to keep pace with changing needs. As important, it prohibited the university from quickly adopting and benefiting from powerful new application functionality. With Oracle ERP Cloud, Boise State eliminates the direct and indirect costs associated with on-premises upgrades so it can benefit immediately from the latest features and advances, all while achieving scalability and reliability.
As part of the implementation, the university also looks to drive new levels of precision and transparency to grants management, a capability that is increasingly important as the organization rapidly expands its research and graduate programs.
“When we reviewed our options, Oracle ERP Cloud really stood out as a mature, reliable cloud solution in use across multiple industries. We are eager to experience the many benefits that Oracle ERP Cloud can deliver to our growing university, including greater agility to adapt to the rapidly changing dynamics in higher education and at our own institution. As we begin our move to Oracle Cloud, we are excited by the prospect that the savings from process improvements will more than offset the costs of the solution — all while delivering reliability and scalability and allowing us to benefit rapidly from the latest features and functionality,” said Jo Ellen Dinucci, associate vice president of finance and administration, Boise State University.
“The benefits of moving to a cloud based system are all there; reducing infrastructure costs, the opportunity to re-purpose staff to other needed areas, eliminating costly upgrades, keeping the system current, the ability to grow and scale as needed,” said Max Davis-Johnson, associate vice president/CIO, Boise State University.
“Boise State University is clearly demonstrating innovation at its best in the education and research industry by migrating to Oracle ERP Cloud,” said Cole Clark, global vice president of education and research, Oracle. “With this selection, the university can modernize its systems faster, with less effort and cost, and achieve rapid return on new services and applications. At the same time, it can benefit seamlessly from the most advanced functionality, while freeing IT team members to focus on projects that drive institutional innovation and excellence.”
