LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — (Marketwire) — 07/22/11 — The following corrects and replaces the release sent on July 14th, 2011 @ 12:32 ET.
VRX Worldwide Inc. () (TSX VENTURE: VRW) announces that MediaValet, the digital asset management system launched by its wholly-owned subsidiary VRX Studios, was one of three cloud applications showcased during Kim Akers- Value Keynote presentation, ISVs Leading the Shift to the Cloud, the first day of Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2011 (WPC 2011) in LA – the worldwide annual gathering for Microsoft partners.
“Taking advantage of Windows Azure-s global infrastructure, scalability and flexibility, David and his team have focused all their efforts on developing a first-class Cloud application,” comments Kim Akers, general manager for global ISV partners at Microsoft Corp. “MediaValet has truly embraced all that Windows Azure offers to help them deliver a Cloud-based digital asset management system that has enormous potential for customers in a wide range of industries.”
David MacLaren, President and CEO of MediaValet and VRX Studios, was invited to join Kim on stage to share VRX Studios- Cloud story. David regaled the difficulty they had finding an existing digital asset management system, how they learned about Cloud-computing and how Windows Azure met their needs where no other Cloud provider could. David closed by detailing how they initially developed MediaValet for their own internal use, how demand from their existing global base of hotel customers to manage their VRX content as well as other third party content created a new product for VRX, and finally how online marketing expanded the demand for MediaValet well beyond the travel and hospitality industries, to come from companies of all sizes – from a wide variety of industries.
“Gaining this kind of recognition from Microsoft at such a high-profile event, has truly launched MediaValet onto the world stage,” comments David MacLaren, President and CEO of VRX Studios and MediaValet. “We greatly appreciate Microsoft-s ongoing support in making MediaValet a success and I want to thank Kim for giving us the opportunity to tell our Cloud story to Microsoft-s global ISV partners.”
David also joined top Independent Software Vendor (ISV) executives Monday afternoon as part of a roundtable presentation to speak about “Moving from a Software to a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model”. The roundtable was hosted by Yvonne Muench (Group Manager, Azure ISV Market Insight Team, Microsoft) and David-s fellow panellists included Arthur Berrill (VP of Technology, DMTI Spatial) and Markus Eilers (CEO of Runtime Software).
The Worldwide Partner Conference, which started with a keynote by Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, on Monday morning, continues until Thursday, July 14, 2011.
