LAS VEGAS, NV — (Marketwired) — 01/06/15 — CES 2015 – Ikanos Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: IKAN), a leading provider of advanced broadband semiconductor and software products for the connected home, and SoftAtHome, a provider of home operating platforms enabling convergent services for the digital home, today announced at CES 2015 that they are extending their partnership to deliver advanced real-time broadband monitoring and diagnostic tools to operators, enabling them to minimize customer support costs while coping with growing network complexity.
Broadband network complexity is increasing as new technologies, such as VDSL2 vectoring and, in the near future, G.fast, become widely deployed. These technologies deliver ever more bandwidth to the premise but in turn put increased strain on the home network to ensure the highest end-to-end quality of service (QoS). Service providers are now looking for solutions to maintain the best QoS while reducing their operational expenses, particularly from customer service calls and truck rolls.
The combined solution of inSIGHT BXM and SOP, jointly designed by Ikanos and SoftAtHome, will achieve these objectives and bring two major benefits: first, operators can proactively identify the cause of common wiring faults and noise interference problems; and secondly, end-users can solve certain local home connectivity problems. Both of these benefits are expected to improve quality of experience and therefore customer retention while reducing operating costs for carriers.
“Broadband quality of service monitoring and diagnostics are more necessary than ever to reduce carrier operating costs and ensure optimal quality of service for subscribers,” said Omid Tahernia, CEO of Ikanos. “Adding our inSIGHT BXM to SoftAtHome software allows the combined solution to diagnose physical-line problems and noise interference accurately in real time. It also extends the benefits of inSIGHT to a broader base of global carriers.”
“We are really pleased to reinforce our partnership with Ikanos in such a strategic area as Quality of Services monitoring and broadband diagnostic tools,” added Michel Degland, CEO of SoftAtHome. “Our SOP product, combined with inSIGHT BXM, will help operators deal with increased home network complexity and provide end-users with a smart and easy-to-use solution.”
