SAN JOSE, CA — (Marketwired) — 11/19/14 — Curb Inc., a clean energy tech startup, introduced the and mobile application, today at DEMO Fall 2014 in San Jose, CA. Curb is taking pre-orders through its website and expects to begin delivering the system nationwide in the first quarter of 2015.
Curb is the first energy system that takes a holistic approach to home energy intelligence. Through circuit breaker integration with a single piece of hardware, Curb is able to analyze the unique electrical signature of each electrical device within a home. From there, Curb–s powerful software algorithms identify how much energy different rooms, devices, and appliances use in real-time, when things are turned on or off, and even when electrical equipment starts to fail.
“At Curb, we believe that the way you use energy is a reflection of your life. While people are becoming more conscientiousness about their energy footprint, understanding energy usage is still very complicated,” said Erik Norwood, president of Curb. “Electricity bills are continuing to rise and are exceedingly unpredictable, yet it–s impossible to identify which devices use the most power or are the biggest wasters. Even the best smart home solutions only target a single light, outlet or appliance, but Curb provides details for the whole home and all of the devices inside.”
The Curb mobile application makes homes more convenient, efficient, and safe. Not only does the app let people see how much energy they are using and spending in real time, but the app also lets people set up customized alerts. Users can be notified when specific devices or appliances are turned on or off or when projected electricity bills go over set budgets. Built-in safety alerts for abnormal energy usage make users aware of dangerous situations. If, for example, an electric stove is accidentally left on, Curb notifies users through the mobile app immediately. Curb–s integration with other smart home devices means that users can remotely control their Wi-Fi enabled devices, thermostats and outlets directly from the Curb app, wherever they are.
“After traveling the country and vetting hundreds of companies on our DEMO Tour, we are excited to bring Curb as one of the few selected companies launching new products solving big problems at DEMO Fall 2014,” said Erick Schonfeld, executive producer of DEMO. “Curb has the potential to be a game-changer.”
Curb will be using a waitlist to manage product deliveries. People can get on the list by pre-ordering the Curb system at . No financial commitment is necessary to pre-order. The free Curb mobile application, Energy Curb, is available for download through the Apple store.
