Big Switch Joins the New Riverbed-Ready Technology Alliance Program to Extend Reach and Value of Riverbed Solutions for Hybrid Enterprises

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 11/04/14 — Big Switch Networks, the company bringing hyperscale networking to data centers worldwide, today announced at Riverbed FORCE 2014 that it has joined the Riverbed®-Ready Technology Alliance program to bring Big Switch–s SDN fabric technologies to joint customers. Integrating Big Switch–s Big Tap Monitoring Fabric and Big Cloud Fabric products with Riverbed solutions allows Big Switch to leverage Riverbed–s advanced technologies and market-leading products to enhance their combined offering to customers. To learn more about the partnership, visit Big Switch and Riverbed at FORCE 2014 at the San Jose Convention Center, November 3 – 6, 2014.

“This partnership enables us to develop integrated, tested SDN fabric solutions with Riverbed–s application-aware networking and performance-management technologies,” said Prashant Gandhi, VP of Product Management and Strategy at Big Switch Networks. “With proprietary data center networks rapidly transitioning to open SDN architectures, we see tremendous opportunity to accelerate customers– transition to hyperscale-style network designs. Together with Riverbed, we are enabling customers to deploy applications faster while driving down unnecessary network complexity and cost.”

Joint solutions are offered for both Big Switch SDN product families. The Big Tap monitoring fabric integrates with Riverbed SteelCentral to provide a cost-optimized, application-aware network monitoring solution, which offers unprecedented scale for data center-wide monitoring, including east-west application-to-application traffic. Big Switch–s flagship product, Big Cloud Fabric integrates with Riverbed SteelApp Traffic Manager as an L4-7 application delivery controller service, allowing for fabric-wide application-level scaling and fault tolerance, flexible deployment options, and seamless insertion into existing data centers. By bringing modern software-centric technologies and innovations to standard hardware, the companies together are enabling data center administrators to rapidly deploy applications on flexible, programmable network infrastructure and provide seamless change management.

“Through the new Riverbed-Ready program, Riverbed and Big Switch will provide our customers integrated solutions including Big Switch–s modern SDN fabrics and the Riverbed Application Performance Platform,” said Katie Colbert, vice president, global technology alliances at Riverbed. “Together, Riverbed and Big Switch are providing end-to-end solutions that offer deep visibility and control to inspect, direct, and protect workloads across data center and cloud environments.”
