Smartling Expands Executive Team to Support Accelerated Growth: Adds Chief Revenue Officer and Vice President of Talent

NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwired) — 11/11/13 — Smartling (), the cloud-based enterprise translation software company, today announced two key additions to the executive management team: David Fitzgerald, Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) and Melissa Meredith, Vice President of Talent.

The CRO role was created to grow existing and develop new revenue streams, as more companies are looking to reach a global audience and need enterprise-grade SaaS translation and localization software. The VP Talent role will focus on developing people strategies that create market advantage and building a culture in which people can thrive.

“While some businesses slow down in Q4, we-re ramping up the executive team and getting ready for a hyper-growth year in 2014,” said Jack Welde, Founder & CEO, Smartling, Inc. “The global middle class is rapidly growing in emerging countries, and our goal is to give them all a native language experience.”

David Fitzgerald, a veteran software industry leader, comes from Brainshark, the leading sales enablement platform provider, where he was Executive Vice President of Marketing, Sales & Services and consistently drove 25% revenue growth, compounded over seven years. Prior to Brainshark, he was President & COO at Eyeretel, Inc, a software provider to call centers, and SVP of Sales Exchange Applications, a marketing automation solution. While at Exchange Applications, he participated in a very successful IPO. He brings proven expertise in driving and managing revenue through periods of rapid growth, operational excellence and software industry sales to his role as CRO.

“Smartling is igniting a technological revolution in the language services space; one that we-ve seen change the way business processes are done like ERP and CRM,” said Fitzgerald, CRO, Smartling. “The tipping point for cloud-based translation and localization software is on the horizon, and I-m excited to join the company at this pivotal time.”

Melissa Meredith, a Human Resources executive, joins Smartling from Creating People Advantage, where she served as Chief Strategy Officer. Her expertise relates to organizational health, and the ability to tap into the collective ingenuity and know-how of employees. She specializes in technology and software companies going through major growth transitions. She has held senior human resources positions at Fortune 500 companies as well as high growth startups where she built people operations that enabled both domestic and international expansion.

“Smartling is creating an environment that enables extraordinary people to come together to do what they do best,” said Melissa Meredith, Vice President of Talent, Smartling. “By removing barriers and nurturing an entrepreneurial spirit in our cultural DNA, we-re creating space for great things to happen.”

Smartling closed a $24 million series C round last month to accelerate growth, invest in the development and delivery of new products and services, and expand global operations. Currently, hundreds of companies across a diverse set of industries rely on Smartling Translation Management Platform to power their translation and localization, including SurveyMonkey, Spotify, Twilio, Shutterstock, Foursquare, Path, Vimeo, Nokia, Uber, GoPro, and Stella & Dot.
