CHICAGO, IL — (Marketwired) — 11/04/13 — (NASDAQ: COBR), a leading designer and marketer of award-winning safety, mobile and automotive consumer electronics, today announced the four-year anniversary of its iRadar technology with the launch of its Cobra iRadar® App Version 4.0. This newest update for iOS devices moves iRadar community members into the next era of convenience and ease-of-use with significant enhancements to its mapping features.
On top of its award-winning, community-based threat sharing and detection capabilities, the new Cobra iRadar App Version 4.0 offers users powerful driver tools directly from within the iRadar app. A new rotating map combined with an automatic zoom feature based on vehicle speed allows iRadar to show more of the road ahead. This improves the driving experience by allowing users to see alert locations well before getting to them. In addition, users can now rotate, tilt and pan the map freely to view at any angle.
Users also benefit from additional mapping and simple navigation performance features. The new Live Traffic Data Integration shows real-time traffic information directly on the map, allowing users to avoid congested areas. With the Get Directions feature users can enter an address and iRadar will plot the best route to the destination on the map. This simple navigation can be a supplement to, or even replacement for, running a separate navigation app. Coverage Map View allows users to see where iRadar alerts are concentrated and spot isolated alert locations on long stretches of road when zoomed out.
Cobra iRadar App Version 4.0 also includes music control, background alert notifications and distance countdown to alerts.
With 40,000 user-generated reports per day and nearly one million users, the iRadar Community is one of the largest and most active detection communities in the world, and is the ultimate tool for driver awareness and threat avoidance. Drivers receive access to its advanced real-time community threat sharing capabilities while receiving AURA® speed and red light camera notifications, verified user-reported alerts of upcoming live police locations and other real-time traffic threat information.
“Cobra Electronics is very proud of the success and growth that our iRadar product has experienced since its launch four years ago,” said Sally Washlow, president of Cobra Electronics. “At its core, iRadar is a tool not only for safety and awareness, but for advanced community-based interaction as well. The new enhancements to iRadar-s mapping and navigation capabilities in version 4.0 mark a celebration of the product and its user base, and continue to enhance Cobra-s existing product line.”
The iRadar App Version 4.0 for iOS is free to download when used in conjunction with Cobra Electronics- iRadar family of radar detectors or as a standalone app to receive AURA® Alerts. Version 4.0 is also available with additional purchasing options ranging from $4.99 per month to $49.99 per year when used as a standalone app for access to the iRadar Community Radar and Laser threat level alerts.
