Slice Redesign Debuts Today With Automatic Recall Alerts for Online Purchases

PALO ALTO, CA — (Marketwired) — 10/16/13 — , the most effortless way to keep track of your online purchases, today launched a redesigned Slice experience for its top-rated mobile applications. The relaunch includes an update of the shopping assistance features users have come to expect from Slice, plus a new feature, which automatically notifies you when an item you-ve purchased has been recalled by the manufacturer. Slice-s Recall Alerts help ensure you-re using safe products without manually sorting through information for the thousands of consumer products that have been recalled.

Hundreds of safety-related recalls are issued every year, but when they happen, manufacturers don-t have a way to identify you in connection with a specific product, unless you contact them first. This leaves you with no easy way to know if you-re in possession of a dangerous product. Once you sign up and link your email inbox, Slice will automatically match recall information from the Consumer Product Safety Commission with your purchases and alert you when there-s a match via a timely push notification. To make it even more effortless, Slice also links the alert directly to the CPSC.gov recall page to provide you with more details on the hazards and what steps you can take.

“Our goal is to make life easier for online shoppers beyond the transaction,” said Scott Brady, Slice CEO and co-founder. “With Recall Alerts, you don-t have to worry about whether the stroller you bought is potentially dangerous. It-s like an insurance policy — you hope you never need it, but it-s there if and when you do.”

The redesigned Slice apps for and feature a more visual user interface with improved navigation, along with a dedicated tracking section that monitors potential recalls and price adjustments.

Slice is a free app that pulls information from the electronic receipts in your inbox to save you time, money and energy. Shipping notifications let you know when a package is about to be delivered, notify you of opportunities to claim partial refunds and Recall Alerts keep you up to date on any potential safety concerns. If you ever need to access a receipt, e-ticket or shipping confirmation, everything is easily stored so you can pull it up without digging through your inbox.

Slice has processed more than 90 million items to date for a total purchase value of $3 billion.
It was listed in Lifehacker-s best and apps of 2013, named one of the “100 World-s Greatest Apps for 2013” by and was selected as an Official Honoree in The 17th Annual in the Utilities & Services category. Slice is available as a free app for , and the .
