NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwired) — 10/03/13 — RentHop, the smarter apartment search marketplace, announced today a partnership with Maponics, a leader in geo-spatial data, to provide renters with richer, more accurate data when they search for available apartments in specific neighborhoods in New York, Boston and Chicago.
Renters will notice the difference when they search for apartments on the site. Maponics data enables RentHop to provide better-targeted information to renters in response to searches for apartments in specific neighborhoods. For example, if a renter searches for an apartment in New York-s Upper East Side and then selects an apartment in Yorkville (a neighborhood within the Upper East Side), RentHop, using Maponics data, can return detailed content relating to Yorkville specifically, as opposed to the Upper East Side generally. This will increase the responsiveness of RentHop-s search results and help ensure that renters see the best and most relevant listings for their desired areas.
One of RentHop-s most unique features is the HopScore, a proprietary algorithm that scores and sorts every apartment listing on the site. The HopScore considers dozens of inputs and factors and gives higher scores to listings with accurate descriptions. The HopScore then displays search results ordered by the score assigned, assisting renters in quickly finding the most appropriate apartment listings.
“We-re very excited about this partnership with Maponics,” said Lee Lin, co-founder and CEO of RentHop. “RentHop is always leveraging new data sources to help apartment hunters find high quality listings posted by trustworthy landlords and brokers. I-m excited the Maponics data serves a dual purpose of improving the online search interface while also bolstering the sophistication of our scoring algorithms.”
“RentHop is the perfect site for leveraging our neighborhood data,” said Darrin Clement, CEO of Maponics. “City dwellers experience their town not as a series of streets but as particular neighborhoods with their own vibe, and this is how apartment seekers look for apartments. We-re thrilled that RentHop users can benefit from this data when making important decisions about where to live.”
