The grant will provide funds to support the Center-s Emergency Healthcare Services program for HIV and AIDS patients in the greater Portland, ME metropolitan area.
The Frannie Peabody Center is Maine-s largest organization focused on providing services to people with HIV and AIDS. With offices in York and Cumberland counties, the Center provided comprehensive services for more than 500 people with HIV and AIDS in 2012, as well as prevention services for others in at-risk populations in southeastern Maine.
“Physicians Interactive and the Tramuto Foundation have been strong supporters of the Frannie Peabody Center for several years,” said Megan Hannan, executive director of the center. “At a time when non-profit organizations struggle for funding, their support is incredibly important to what we do to keep clients healthy. This latest grant enables us to greatly expand the reach of our Emergency Healthcare Services program, one of the most important services we offer when clients need help the most. The funding enables us to mobilize in emergency situations to help clients with their dental costs and medical bills.”
Donato Tramuto, the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Physicians Interactive, founded the Tramuto Foundation to provide direct support to children in need, as well as grants, contributions and other funding to organizations that share their mission of helping challenged youths fulfill their dreams.

In addition to healthcare services, the Frannie Peabody Center staff made more than 9,000 prevention outreach and education contacts in the community in 2012. It also serviced 435 people with assistance in finding housing, including subsidies for 199 people.
“Even though we are in Maine, the impact of what the Frannie Peabody Center does is felt far beyond our borders,” said Hannan. “Approximately 17 percent of our clients are ethnic and racial minorities, and we provide services to a lot of immigrants, refugees and people seeking asylum in the greater Portland metropolitan area. HIV and AIDS at their core are global healthcare issues, and we-re doing our best — with the great support of Physicians Interactive and the Tramuto Foundation — to solve our piece of the puzzle.”

The mission of The Frannie Peabody Center is to prevent the spread of AIDS and provide support to those living with AIDS and HIV. It provides HIV case management services to people with multiple and complex HIV needs and also collaborates with healthcare providers to coordinate myriad critical services needed to manage living with HIV. Tramuto struggled with severe hearing loss.
