CHICAGO, IL — (Marketwired) — 09/18/13 — (), the largest provider of decision sciences and analytics solutions for global enterprise customers, announced today that it is opening an Analytics Center in Austin, Texas, that will employ up to 300 full-time decision scientists plus support staff. The facility will house a Delivery Center, Customer Lab and Innovation Lab. Opening in October 2013, the Austin Center will complement Mu Sigma-s massive Bangalore, India facility, which currently employs 2500+ decision scientists.
Krishna Rupanagunta, Mu Sigma-s Geography Head, will run the Austin Delivery Center and Customer Lab. Zubin Dowlaty, Mu Sigma-s Head of Innovation & Development, will run the Austin Innovation Lab.
The company has already recruited 30+ math, science and engineering graduates from top universities across the U.S., including Georgia Tech, University of Texas, University of Chicago, Purdue and Rutgers. Entry-level hires will start with a rigorous interdisciplinary training program that will cover business, applied math, technology and behavioral sciences.
The Austin Customer Lab is part of Mu Sigma-s continuous endeavor to bring innovation to its customers. It-s a forum where customers can collaborate with Mu Sigma to run data-driven decision-making experiments before scaling them within their organizations.
Mu Sigma-s Austin Innovation Lab is tasked with working closely with the company-s Bangalore Center to drive efficiencies, analytics innovation and thought leadership to clients by exploring the frontiers of analytics techniques, technologies and applications. The Innovation Lab will bring together Mu Sigma-s complete ecosystem of technology platforms, processes and people to help clients institutionalize analytics in a scalable and sustainable manner.
“Our client base is growing swiftly all over the world, and having a large analytics center in the U.S. will help us better serve clients who need rapid turnaround on their analytics projects,” said Dhiraj Rajaram, founder and CEO of Mu Sigma. “With decision scientists in both Austin and Bangalore, we-ll essentially have 24-hour coverage for clients.”
“We are very excited about the Customer Lab,” Rajaram added. “We believe that low-cost experimentation is going to be key to any organization-s success with analytics, and our new Austin facility provides an environment that fosters this culture.”
According to Rajaram, Mu Sigma selected Austin — often touted as the Silicon Valley of the South — due to its culture of innovation, good education system, vibrant outdoor environment and affordability, which are all attractive to the decision scientists the company is planning to recruit.
“We started Mu Sigma in Chicago with a vision to democratize analytics,” said Rajaram. “Opening this Austin facility strengthens our relationship with our customers.”
The Mu Sigma Analytics Center is located at 2222 Rio Grande Street, Austin, TX 78705 and will open in mid-October 2012. For more detail on Mu Sigma job openings or to apply, visit .
