XClinical GmbH, Munich, Germany – April 14, 2011 – XClinical, a European vendor of innovative software products for eClinical trials known for its innovative and user-friendly CDISC ODM-certified EDC software suite MARVIN, hosts its first CRO Executive Forum especially designed for CEOs of CROs on May 10, 2011 in Aying, Germany.
The concept
In 2010, XClinical started to provide workshops about the application of EDC software and related issues. The initial “end-to-end” workshop was a full success and will be re-hosted at the end of 2011. XClinical has now designed the CRO Executive Forum for the management of medium-sized CROs in order to expand the range of topics and to appeal to a more closely defined target group. “A lot of our clients are contract research organizations. Thus, we have broad experience with the challenges management is facing when starting to work with clinical IT”, says Dr. Philippe Verplancke, Managing Director of XClinical. “At our Executive Forum we will generate discussions on the economics of introducing clinical IT and will evaluate the benefits of the application of clinical IT.” The Executive Forum comprises mostly plenary sessions to facilitate an interactive exchange between participants. Although designed for medium-sized CROs the Executive Forum is not limited to this target group. “Our agenda is on the one hand based on the needs and issues of medium-sized CROs. But on the other hand the topics discussed are also relevant for the management of larger or smaller CROs”, states Dr. Verplancke.
The agenda
The CRO Executive Forum is based on a very interactive concept. Participants will not only hear lectures but will interact with each other in various plenary sessions. The forum’s main focus is the economics of clinical IT.
The CRO Executive Forum kicks off with a discussion on the experience participants have already made applying clinical IT. The following brainstorming session is intended to trigger a detailed examination of the pros and cons of introducing clinical IT at a CRO. Based on the results follows a detailed discussion on the advantages of clinical IT and on how to utilize it in the most beneficial way. Afternoon sessions start with a lecture of Dr. Philippe Verplancke, XClinical’s Managing Director and member of the CDISC E3C (European CDISC Coordination Committee) on the advantages of applying CDISC standards to improve daily work with clinical IT from “end-to-end” – from study set-up through data capture to archiving. The last session of the forum is a discussion to evaluate the opportunities to retain parts of the economic advantages achieved through clinical IT with the CRO instead of passing it on to the sponsor.
