ThreatSim Expands Templates, Training Content Support for Its Leading Simulated Phishing Awareness Software to 11 Languages

HERNDON, VA — (Marketwired) — 08/15/13 — ThreatSim, a leading innovator of simulated phishing defense training and awareness solutions, today announced general availability and full language support for its phishing templates and training content in 11 languages: English, German, Italian, Arabic, Chinese, French, French Canadian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish and Spanish in Latin America. ThreatSim will continue to add additional languages and country experiences to support customer needs.

“Our large customers with distributed global operations depend on multiple translations of our simulated phishing training software as today-s attacks are more sophisticated than ever and often aimed at the global supply chain,” said ThreatSim co-founder and CTO . “ThreatSim differentiates from competitive offerings by offering a robust portfolio of eleven languages in active production, rather than available on-demand, and we deliver country-specific domain experiences to ensure phishing simulations are realistic.”

In June, a Kaspersky Labs showed phishing attacks surged 87 percent from 2011-2012. The report also cited “over half (56%) of all identified unique attack sources were found in just 10 countries, which means the attackers have a small set of preferred -home bases- to launch their attacks.” These countries include: the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, India, China, Russia, Ukraine and Vietnam.

“Our language translation and support extends to seven of the 10 countries Kaspersky identified,” Hawthorn added. “The sophistication and granularity of phishing and spear phishing schemes continues to rise, especially in the way victims are targeted and exploited to achieve desired attack objectives.”

According to research contributed by ThreatSim (p. 38) for the (pub. April 2013): Running a campaign with just three e-mails gives the attacker a better than 50% chance of getting at least one click. Run that campaign twice and that probability goes up to 80%, and sending 10 phishing e-mails approaches the point where most attackers would be able to slap a “guaranteed” sticker on getting a click.
