LAS VEGAS, NV — (Marketwired) — 08/13/13 — Luminus Devices, the leading global manufacturer of big chip LEDs, announced that Dr. Don McDaniel, marketing director for global entertainment products, will speak at The LED Show in Las Vegas. His presentation, “Developments in LEDs for Specialty Applications,” will be delivered during a conference seminar entitled LED Lighting Systems – Dimming, Drivers and More.
There are countless specialty LED markets of widely ranging sizes. Some of the most significant are display – projection, video walls, billboards; entertainment – stage, TV and film production; fiber delivered illumination – medical, commercial and industrial; and transportation – automotive and aviation. Luminus focuses primarily on those that demand very high lumen density and strong center beam candle power products.
“Our customers and partners who serve these specialty markets demand that we keep improving our products,” said Dr. McDaniel. “As our specialty lighting technology continues to advance, the overall performance improvements increase the standard for general lighting applications as well.”
Dr. McDaniel-s presentation will cover key areas of innovation in detail including: higher drive current density, optimizing thermal performance, and optimizing optical coupling and system throughput. Dr. McDaniel will also touch upon key performance metrics for both the specialty and utility lighting markets, highlighting ways in which they differ from those with which we-re more familiar.
