ALISO VIEJO, CA — (Marketwired) — 04/12/13 — Alternative Technology Solutions Inc. today issued the following statement in response to the recent lawsuit filed by Epicor Software Corporation on March 18, 2013: We are surprised and disappointed by Epicor-s suit against Alternative alleging that we engaged in copyright and intellectual property infringement. We find the lawsuit to be unwarranted, and we plan to defend ourselves vigorously against these false claims.
Alternative President and CEO, Vivian Keena, commented on the lawsuit, “We-ve spent the past several years building a business that is actually to the benefit of Epicor, Alternative and our joint customers. Our customers came to us because they sought the services or solutions they knew we could provide and we-ve worked hard to meet the needs of our customers. We-ve enabled them to gain greater value from their Epicor investment — which means they remain on Epicor maintenance and remain an Epicor customer. Our view has always been that we-re an advocate for Epicor-s solutions and that we-re a complement to their business, not a detriment.”
Keena continues, “I-m grateful to all of our mutual customers that have contacted me directly to express their confusion as to Epicor-s motives and to express their support for Alternative and what we provide. I want to reassure them that we-re doing all we can to resolve this situation as expeditiously as possible, and I want to reiterate that we are confident in our ability to prevail.”
Alternative has, today, filed a response to the lawsuit, including affirmative defenses and counterclaims as a result of Epicor-s actions since they filed suit. In addition, Alternative has also filed a motion to dismiss several of the allegations.
