Demonstrations of the new — the heart of RGB-s -Multiscreen 2.0- live streaming solution — and other key products and partner solutions will highlight how VSPs can deliver new premium live and on-demand programming services and advertising applications to expand their multiscreen deployments and generate new revenues.
Multiscreen 2.0: Next-Generation IP Video
RGB-s solutions represent the next generation of IP video technology, allowing VSPs to expand their TV Everywhere deployments, while reducing costs and streamlining operations. Consisting of several next-gen products for live, on-demand and time-shifted delivery, RGB-s Multiscreen 2.0 solutions facilitate the monetization of services across screens, ensure the seamless delivery of premium quality audio and video to all IP devices, and boost the multiscreen business case and return on investment. The following Multiscreen 2.0 solutions will be demonstrated at NAB:
High-Density Transcoding without Compromise: RGB-s new, carrier-class VMG Gen 2 performs the industry-s highest capacity real-time transcoding. Tightly integrated with RGB-s for delivering live video services to any device, this unique pair can scale easily to meet growing demand for multiscreen services. RGB will demonstrate the exceptional video quality achieved by the new platform, without compromise.
nDVR and VOD for Multiscreen: Complementing its powerful live delivery solution, RGB offers a flexible set of options to meet a wide range of on-demand and time-shifting delivery needs. A demonstration will illustrate a multi-product workflow from RGB for VOD and nDVR applications. In addition to the award-winning just-in-time packaging performed by RGB-s TransAct Packager, it illustrates upstream file-to-file transcoding through the and live capture workflow with the VMG feeding a TransAct Packager in recording (asset preparation) mode.
Multiscreen Monetization: Utilizing advanced ABR streaming to facilitate targeted advertising down to the neighborhood, device or even specific individual subscriber demographic, RGB-s Ad Insertion for Multiscreen (AIM) solution enables VSPs to migrate to a proven model for monetizing video services to the multiscreen environment. RGB will demonstrate how the VMG and TransAct Packager can deliver three different targeted ads to three separate iPads inserted within the same linear feed.
With the goal of reducing integration complexity and ensuring the availability of a complete, end-to-end multiscreen solution for its customers, RGB continues to partner with leading vendors to ensure smooth deployment. The following demonstrations with best-of-breed partners can be seen at RGB-s booth:
Adobe Primetime: As a key Adobe Primetime ecosystem partner, RGB will highlight its TransAct Packager performing Adobe HDS encapsulation. It also supports Adobe Primetime DRM encryption (formerly known as Adobe Access) for secure content delivery.
Surround Sound for Multiscreen Ad Insertion: The Dolby® Digital Plus codec takes multiscreen audio to the next level, allowing VSPs to deliver surround sound via various adaptive streaming protocols to any device. RGB supports this audio codec in IPTV and multi-bitrate modes on both the TransAct Encoder/Transcoder and VMG Gen 2. This audio demonstration will show the integration of Dolby Digital Plus with RGB-s AIM ad insertion solution, performing seamless audio bitrate switching across network and ad content.
Audio Loudness Correction with DTS Technology: Integrated with a proven loudness correction solution from DTS, RGB-s TransAct Encoder/Transcoder enables VSPs to meet government-mandated regulations, such as the CALM Act and EBU R128. This demonstration will highlight how the DTS/RGB solution takes loudness correction to the next level, ensuring a premium audio experience across all IP devices — both large and small screen.
OTT Swipe from Siemens: RGB will highlight an exciting new technology — OTT Swipe — developed by Siemens Convergence Creators. This web-based -swipe- technology allows users to quickly and easily move video content from a mobile device to a TV and back again with the swipe of a hand. Together with RGB-s multiscreen transcoding, packaging and ad insertion, VSPs can deliver an exceptional user experience to their subscribers. Come use the swipe technology yourself and learn about end-to-end multiscreen solutions, brought to you by Siemens.
