HOUSTON, TX — (Marketwire) — 04/01/13 — Computer Explorers awarded their highest honor to Debra Moorer of New Jersey this month at their annual convention in Houston. Moorer started her business in 1994 when searching for curriculum to teach senior citizens. With close to twenty years of experience, Moorer contributes energy and passion to her success.
Computer Explorers is a franchise turnkey program that provides technology education to afterschool programs and childcare centers throughout the world. Over 33,000 students are instructed by Computer Explorers each week. Classes include Lego robotics, digital photography, programming, and app building among many others. Children of all ages gain skills that apply to daily life and will help them be successful in the future.
Carol Hadley, President of Computer Explorers, stated, “Moorer received the Franchisee of the Year award for her growth in multiple territories and collaboration with others. Debra took the lead in the benchmarking of student achievement, providing a great service to her customers and all of the Computer Explorers- system. Her dedication is a great asset to the company; therefore I was honored to name her the Franchisee of the Year for 2012.”
Moorer attributes her success to her love of teaching. When asked her secret to achieve success, Moorer responded, “I try to inspire my teachers with my passion. They see my fire and it catches.” Moorer-s favorite part of 2012 was teaching robotics to students with special needs. “Nobody thought children with special needs could learn from our product, but they took off with it,” she stated. “It gave the children confidence because they were in total control of the robots. They weren-t spoon fed the info, but got to use their own creativity.”
Just as students in Computer Explorers classes around the world are affirmed for their achievements, we echo the same sentiment to Ms. Moorer and state, “Job well done!” for your energy, passion, and dedication.
In 1984, COMPUTER EXPLORERS was founded by educators to give all children access to quality technology education. Today, COMPUTER EXPLORERS is one of the fastest growing children-s educational franchises in the United States, reaching more than 33,000 children per week at nearly 1,000 locations across the United States and internationally.
